Far From Indochine

Exhibition at Pitzer College (Claremont, CA- USA)
Curated by Chương-Đài VÕ

The 3 former countries of ex-Indochina have recently created what is called the Triangle of Economic Development Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam as a reaction of global capitalism. This giant patchwork gathers together emblems of 3 nations which have opposite interests and cultures. Both a critic of patriotism and utopian politics, this flag pays tribute to one of the best known "Bérurier Noir" song titled "Vietnam-Laos-Cambodge". Written in 1987, a year after the "Doi Moi", this track celebrates the end of Indochina and the starting point of a new era in this geographical area. - copie_v2.jpg
